Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale is a professional basketball player for the Dallas Wings, a team within the Women's National Basketball Association. She was a player for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in college before she was drafted with the number 5 overall by the Wings in the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale was conceived on the 2nd of March 1997 in Milwaukee Wisconsin to parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale. Mario Ogunbowale, who is 26 years old, is her brother and Dare Ogunbowale, 20 years older. Since she was the smallest of her siblings she was the most spoilt from her family. Gregory was a Nigerian Army officer for a long duration. Ogunbowale grew up in a bustling family. Her mother Yolanda was a softball coach at DePaul as was her brother Dare was a footballer. Her aunt, Endia Oliver played Volleyball at Tennessee State and her niece was a volleyball player for UAPB. Ogunbowale has been on the honor roll at her school three years consecutively. Alongside her fame, she's received various awards from her education. Arike graduated from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in her home town. Apart from studying Arike also played on three varsity teams at Divine Holy Angels Savior High School. The high school season she played in comprised 73 plays with 1,477 career points and 739 career rebound. Ogunbowale participated in her first 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship and 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship where she won gold medals. The USA Youth Olympic Team was announced as one of the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team on the 7th of July 2014. Ogunbowale is also named for the ACC All-Freshman Team for her first collegiate campaign. The coach even thanked the legendary Kobe Bryant after she hit numerous big shots during the NCCA Tournament. Ogunbowale, a relative newcomer to the game of basketball, has made herself a household name. It is likely that she will continue to grow with her basketball career.
